I've finally persuaded my boss to buy Service Capture to help with the Flex development work that I am doing.

I have run into a slightly frustrating issue; we return large amounts of thumbnails to our applications. Although these images are showing in the traffic log, the browsers (IE and FF) no longer display the images if I use Service Capture. The attribute info showing in Service Capture is all correct for each thumbnail......

Any ideas how I can get the images back?

This is an issue that I have not seen before. Is there a public link to your application where I could see this happening? While the thumbnails are not working is other traffic fine, such as remoting or SOAP traffic?

There is no public access to the systems - unfortunately we work on projects involving several very large entertainment corporations and they get VERY unhappy about people seeing things they shouldn't

Everything else seems to be working fine.... it is only the jpg thumbnails and extended views that don't show up.

The application is wriiten to display a default thumbnail if the correct one fails to load, so I can then go into the details page and see all the information and interact with the application as normal.

Looking at the traffic log, I appear to be getting a HTTP/1.0 503 Service Unavailable as the header, with a text/html Content-type.

I suspect there is a problem between Service Capture and the Java server that provides the images.....

Are the images being served from a servlet or directly from a HTTP server? Could you send the request headers to sc@kevinlangdon.com?

I believe it is a Java servlet that acts like an HTTP server.... It accepts requests via http://servername/ImageServlet?assetID=xxxxx&action=blah this then returns an image direct to the browser.

We can call images directly using the above method... This behaves in the same way - without Service Capture running the thumbnail appears, with it running I get the same 503 Page Unavailable issue

How do I dump the request header info out for you? Or do you want the session csv file?

Click on one of the images requests in ServiceCapture and then click on the headers tab. Just select and copy all of the text there. You can email it if it contains domains/urls that you don't want public.

Also could you check what version of ServiceCapture you are using under Help->Check for Updates Thanks

I have emailed you the header info and a copy of the session csv file.

This problem was due to ServiceCapture not bypassing an upstream proxy for local network traffic. This has been fixed in version 1.2.11.

ServiceCapture now looks at the IE settings for bypassing local network traffic. In a future release this will also be available in the manual settings of ServiceCapture.
