Hi, I just purchased Service Capture. When I start the progam up to enter my serial number I get an error saying "network error ocurred. Please try again.". Any ideas what might be causing this to happen?

Cheers.

What version of ServiceCapture are you using? Are you behind a proxy server?

You need to setup the upstream proxy under tools->settings->proxy

Make sure you using the latest version as well.

ServiceCapture should recognize a proxy on the network. If it does not you can try the following:

open the settings.dat file. On pc this should be in same directory as the exe.

add the following lines (remove any lines that already contain these property names):
proxy.autoDetect=false
proxy.url=http://YOUR_PROXY:YOUR_PROXY_PORT

Hmmmm...no settings.dat file in that directory or any of the child directories. I downdoaded the latest version off your site. Should I uninstall and start over? Is it using the proxy settings in IE? We have a script that sets our proxy.

It should try to use the proxy settings in ie. Create that file, settings.dat in the same directory as the exe.

I have followed your instruction exactly and am still getting the same error. If I don't use the .dat file I can go to the link "ServiceCapture website" at the bottom of the registation window. If I us the .dat it changes my IE settings and I can't get to any external site. Any suggestions.

OK, I finally got it to register. I had to change the .dat file to say proxy.autoDetect=true and set my IE settings to autodetect and manually putting the proxy instead of using the proxy script. Once I registered I just put everthing back because I could no longer get to external sources in IE. Service capture does not seem to be working now. I wonder if it has to do with service capture setting that I changed so they don't change proxy information in IE. I am using IE7. This is the .dat it generated:

For IE to use ServiceCapture as its proxy you need it to change the ie settings. I don't really know what your proxy script is doing or when it is changing the proxy. But IE needs to see ServiceCapture as its proxy and then ServiceCapture needs to see your proxy as an upstream proxy. Without know what your script is doing I would think that you need to have these changed:
proxy.autoIE=true
proxy.autoDetect=true

Does your script only run on startup or does it monitor proxy changes?
